When a SMILE-G3-S battery is added to a house that already has a solar inverter, the AlphaESS system needs to know what that inverter produces. The PV CT provides it. It clamps around the live conductor of the existing inverter's AC output, with the arrow pointing toward that inverter's grid port, and reports the current to the AlphaESS inverter. Together with the grid CT this gives a complete picture of production, consumption and grid flow in the app. Supplied with a 10 m lead.
