On their own, Deye SUN-XL02-B optimizers only optimize. The SUN-XL20-B concentrator is what turns on the rest: it is wired into the strings and communicates with each optimizer over the PV cable itself (power line carrier), so no extra communication cable runs across the roof. Through it the module data reaches Deye's monitoring platform, and it is the unit that brings the array's DC voltage down to a safe level for rapid shutdown. One concentrator serves up to four strings.
